200 Hours of Awakening

A Foundation Yoga Teacher Training — Where the Journey Inward Truly Begins

Duration 22 Days
Hours 200 hrs
Level Beginner – Intermediate
Language English
Certification RYT 200

"The first step of any great journey is not the one that takes you furthest — it is the one that teaches you how to walk."

There is a particular kind of courage required to begin. To arrive in Rishikesh — this ancient city where the Himalayas meet the Ganges, where the air itself seems to carry the memory of ten thousand years of practice — and to say, quietly but firmly: I am ready to learn. At Ravinder Yoga School, we have built our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training for precisely that moment. For you.

This 22-day residential programme is thoughtfully crafted to do two things simultaneously: to make you a skilled, confident, and authentic yoga teacher — and to begin the far longer, far more rewarding work of transforming you as a human being. Upon completion, you will be fully eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200), a globally recognised credential that opens doors across the world.

"In an age where yoga is so often reduced to the shape of the body,
we insist on attending equally to the shape of the soul."

Our curriculum honours the full breadth of the yogic tradition. The asana practice — rooted in the classical styles of Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa — is taught with precision, care, and an understanding that the posture is always in service of something deeper. Alongside this, students move through pranayama, the shat kriyas, Yoga Nidra, meditation, anatomy and physiology, and yoga philosophy. We also weave in the living traditions of Ayurveda, Karma Yoga, and Mantra Chanting — elements that are not afterthoughts here, but central threads in the fabric of Indian yogic heritage.

The schedule is disciplined but never punishing — six days of devoted study each week, with one day set aside for rest, reflection, and the particular kind of integration that only silence can offer. Comfortable accommodation, nourishing sattvic meals, and carefully arranged excursions are all woven into the course fee, so that your attention may remain where it belongs: entirely on the practice.

You will arrive as a student.
You will leave as a teacher — and, perhaps more importantly, as someone who has only just begun.

The Full Curriculum

What You Will Learn

A thorough and unhurried education in the classical traditions of yoga — taught with the rigour, care, and depth that this ancient discipline has always deserved.

+
01

Yoga Postures

Hatha & Vinyasa

The physical practice is the doorway through which most of us first encounter yoga, and we honour that entirely. Over the course of your training, you will cultivate a thorough, embodied understanding of both Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa — two of the most respected and enduring traditions in the world. You will learn to move with precision, breathe with genuine intention, and construct a personal practice that is at once powerful and sustainable. Alignment is studied not as a set of rigid prescriptions, but as a body of intelligent principles designed to protect the student and deepen the experience. You will also develop the skill of modifying and adapting postures for students of differing ages, constitutions, and physical capacities — for the finest teaching always begins with a deep respect for the individual body.

+
02

Pranayama

The Science of Breath

The breath is the most elegant bridge between body and mind, and the mastery of it changes everything. Our pranayama curriculum carries you well beyond rudimentary breathing exercises into a rich and disciplined exploration of classical techniques — practices that regulate the nervous system, sharpen mental acuity, and awaken a quality of inner vitality seldom encountered in modern life. From Nadi Shodhana and Kapalabhati to Bhramari and Ujjayi, you will not only master these techniques within your own practice, but learn to impart them with clarity, confidence, and appropriate care — understanding both their energetic effects and their contraindications.

+
03

Relaxation

Yoga Nidra

True strength in yoga is matched by the ability to rest with awareness. You will study the classical structure of Yoga Nidra, a guided practice that leads the student into the profound state between waking and sleep. We explore how to deliver scripts that facilitate deep physical, mental, and emotional release, providing a sanctuary for the nervous system to recalibrate.

+
04

Meditation

Stillness & Awareness

Meditation is the heart of the yogic journey. You will be introduced to classical dhyana techniques, learning how to steady the mind and cultivate a sustained state of internal observation. Our approach focuses on developing a personal relationship with silence, which then becomes the foundation for guiding others into their own meditative experience.

+
05

Anatomy

Physiology

A deep understanding of the human body is essential for a safe and effective practice. This module covers functional anatomy, the musculoskeletal system, and respiratory physiology as they apply specifically to yoga asana. You will learn how to prevent injury, understand common physical limitations, and apply anatomical knowledge to intelligent sequencing.

+
06

Philosophy

Ancient Wisdom

  • General introduction: six schools of Indian philosophy
  • Samkhya and yoga
  • Intro of pattanjali yoga sutras
  • Highlight of astanga yoga: yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and Samadhi
  • Introduction to Upanishad
  • Lifestyle and yoga ethics
+
07

Ayurveda

Holistic Life Science

Explore the sister science of yoga. You will learn the fundamentals of Ayurveda, including the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and how to apply dinacharya (daily routine) for health and balance. This knowledge allows you to align your yoga practice with the rhythms of nature and your unique constitution.

+
08

Mudras

Energetic Seals

Study the use of Bandhas and Mudras to direct prana within the body. You will learn the physical and energetic applications of these traditional seals, which are used to stabilize the internal environment and deepen the focus during asana and meditation.

+
09

Mantras

Vibrational Sound

Experience the power of sound through traditional Sanskrit chanting. We cover the phonetic precision of mantras and their vibrational impact on the mind and body, helping practitioners create an atmosphere of sacred focus and internal resonance.

+
10

Satkriya

Purification

Learn the classical cleansing techniques (Kriyas) of Hatha Yoga. We provide instruction in Jala Neti, Trataka, and Kapalabhati, focusing on how these practices purify the physical body and prepare the subtle energy channels for advanced pranayama and meditation.

+
11

Methodology

Art of Instruction

This module transforms the practitioner into a teacher. You will learn the art of sequencing, verbal cueing, and hands-on adjustments. We also cover the ethics of teaching, class management, and how to create a supportive environment that facilitates the student's growth.

+
12

Homework

Independent Study

To ensure a thorough integration of the course material, you will be assigned independent study and practice sessions. This includes journaling, sequencing assignments, and self-practice, which are essential for developing the quiet authority required for professional teaching.

Daily Schedule & Programme Structure

Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is thoughtfully structured to offer a harmonious balance between disciplined practice and moments of quiet reflection.

The programme unfolds over six days of dedicated study and practice each week. The seventh day is set aside for restorative rest and gentle exploration — including scenic Himalayan excursions, visits to sacred shrines and temples, and time to immerse oneself in the spiritual atmosphere of Rishikesh.

Though the schedule is purposefully full, many students find the experience not only manageable but deeply enriching — a graceful and illuminating process of inner transformation. Living in close harmony with nature throughout the training further enhances this profound sense of connection.

Days begin at 6:15 am with a short morning prayer and pranayama, followed by traditional Hatha Yoga practice. After breakfast, students engage in two focused academic sessions: Yoga Philosophy and Anatomy & Physiology.

The afternoon offers valuable time for self-study and personal practice, allowing the teachings to settle deeply. Later, we return to the mat for dynamic Vinyasa Yoga asana sessions, concluding the day with relaxation, Yoga Nidra, and meditation.

Evenings are enriched with uplifting cultural activities including Satsang (devotional singing), illuminating lectures, and occasional audio-visual presentations on yogic wisdom. Weekly assignments are thoughtfully incorporated to foster deeper understanding and integration of the material.

Three nourishing vegetarian meals are served daily, accompanied by fresh

fruit refreshments and herbal teas. We gently encourage students to retire by 10 pm, as restful sleep forms an essential part of the yogic discipline and supports the transformative nature of the training.

The Science of Life

Ayurvedic Wisdom

Led by a renowned Ayurvedic physician, this immersive intensive explores the foundations of holistic health through personalised wellness, bridging ancient ritual with the demands of modern life.

Nutritional Wisdom

Learn how to eat for your unique Prakriti, turning daily meals into medicine for the soul — a diet that nourishes your specific constitution from within.

Lifestyle Design

Align your circadian rhythm and daily habits with nature's own biological cycles — restoring balance that the pace of the modern world so often quietly erodes.

The Three Doshas

Identify Vata, Pitta, and Kapha within yourself. Understanding your constitution is the first and most profound step toward lifelong health and mental clarity.

Ayurveda asks not what illness you have, but who you are — and from that knowing, all healing begins.

Sound healing singing bowls Meditation in Rishikesh
The Power of Resonance

Sound Healing

Transformation happens in the silence between breaths. Our weekly Sound Healing sessions bypass the mind's relentless chatter to reach a profound state of cellular stillness and restoration.

Vibrational Therapy

Tibetan singing bowls and carefully chosen frequencies harmonise the nervous system, allowing the body to release held tension at a level far beneath conscious thought.

Yoga Nidra Integration

A meditative practice for deep subconscious restoration, where sacred sound becomes the vessel that carries awareness into the luminous delta state of consciousness.

Mental Clarity

Acoustic resonance gently quiets internal dialogue, dissolving the ego's incessant noise and guiding you toward a quality of stillness that words rarely capture.

Sound is the medicine of the future. In the stillness it creates, the body remembers how to heal itself.
