A Himalayan Yoga Retreat — Tapovan, Rishikesh
There are moments in a life — quiet, unremarkable moments — when the noise of the world becomes briefly unbearable. The inbox, the commute, the relentless forward march of ambition. It is precisely in these moments that something older and wiser within us stirs. It asks, simply: is this all there is?
Our retreats at Ravinder Yoga School are designed for those who hear that question — and are brave enough, if only for a few days, to stop and listen. Held amidst the ancient folds of the Himalayas, in the sacred valley of Rishikesh where the Ganges runs cold and clear, these are not holidays. They are pauses. Deliberate, nourishing, transformative pauses.
Perhaps you are someone whose days are full but whose soul feels quietly empty. Perhaps you have always been curious about Yoga — not merely as a form of exercise, but as a complete philosophy of living — and you wish, at last, to understand what all the fuss has truly been about for five thousand years. Perhaps you are drawn to India: to her incense and her silences, to the idea that a civilisation once built its entire architecture around the single pursuit of inner freedom.
Or perhaps you simply need to breathe. To wake before dawn and hear nothing but the river. To eat simply, move gently, and spend an evening in honest conversation with yourself — without the guilt of unanswered messages, without the theatre of ordinary life.
Whatever it is that has brought you to this page — curiosity, exhaustion, longing, or the quiet suspicion that there is a richer way to inhabit your own life — know this: the Himalayas have been receiving seekers for millennia. They are very good at it. And so, humbly, are we.
You need not be flexible. You need not be spiritual. You need not have stepped onto a yoga mat before in your life. You need only be willing — willing to set down, for a little while, everything you are carrying, and to discover what remains when you do.
We have thought carefully about what it means to welcome someone into this world — particularly someone arriving from a life of schedules, deadlines, and the particular exhaustion of always knowing what comes next. Our retreats are structured not to overwhelm, but to gently unfold. Each day has its rhythm. Each rhythm has its purpose. And underneath it all, there is always room simply to be.
How long you stay
We offer retreats of three, five, seven, and fourteen days — because we understand that time is, for most of us, the most precious and most contested of resources. Our seven-day retreat is, in our experience, the most deeply rewarding: long enough for the mind to truly soften, short enough to fit within the constraints of a modern life. Whatever you can give, we will make it count.
What your days will feel like
Your days will move between practice and stillness, learning and rest. Mornings begin quietly — with breath, with movement, with the particular clarity that comes only before the rest of the world has woken. Evenings invite reflection. And on one unhurried afternoon, we step beyond the school walls together, to absorb the living, breathing sacred geography of Rishikesh — a town that has been a place of pilgrimage long before any of us arrived, and will remain so long after.
What is taken care of
Everything. Your accommodation is peaceful and considered. Your meals are nourishing — prepared with care, rooted in the yogic tradition of food as medicine. Your tuition, your excursion, your every practical need: all of it is included. We ask only one thing of you in return. Leave the logistics to us, and bring your full attention to yourself.
Every retreat at Ravinder Yoga School rests on the same unhurried foundation — the complete nourishment of body, mind, and spirit. And yet, we have found that the soul does not always arrive with the same question. Sometimes it seeks stillness. Sometimes strength. Sometimes it simply wishes to understand.
For this reason, each of our retreats leans with intention into a particular thread of yogic wisdom, allowing you to choose not merely a programme, but a direction — one that speaks to where you are right now, and where you feel called to go.
We invite you to explore our specialized retreats below, and to trust that whichever path you choose, you will not walk it alone.
While every retreat we offer maintains a strictly holistic foundation to nourish the body, mind, and spirit, we design each program to lean elegantly into a specific subject of spiritual interest. This allows you to tailor your journey to what your soul currently requires.

From the mountains of Tapovan — in their own words.
The mountains, the practice, the stillness — it reset something deep inside me. I left feeling lighter than I have in years.
Ravinder's teaching is unlike anything I encountered before. Practical, warm, deeply rooted. I carry the breathwork with me every single day.
Tapovan is magic. The organic food, the farm walks, the community evenings — I didn't just learn yoga, I lived it. Already planning my return.
