Himalayas Yoga Retreat | Ravinder Yoga School

Yoga is not a workout. It is a work within.

Welcome to Ravinder Yoga School, an international yoga teacher training and retreat centre nestled in the sacred Himalayan town of Rishikesh, India. For sincere seekers of authentic yoga, our school offers a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditional teachings of yoga while enjoying the warmth, comfort, and personal attention of a close-knit learning community.

Since welcoming our first students, we have remained devoted to preserving the deeper essence of yoga beyond trends, fashion, and commercialisation. Here in Rishikesh—the birthplace of countless yogic traditions and home to sages, saints, and seekers for thousands of years—students are invited to step away from the noise of modern life and enter a space dedicated to growth, reflection, study, and transformation.

Whether your aspiration is to become a professional yoga teacher, deepen your personal practice, or reconnect with a more meaningful way of living, Ravinder Yoga School offers an experience that remains with students long after they leave India.

Guided by an experienced teacher, each session is far more than a physical exercise. Through mindful movement, conscious breathing, and deep awareness, yoga becomes a pathway back to balance, clarity, and inner peace.

A Peaceful Himalayan Learning Environment

The environment in which one studies yoga is as important as the teachings themselves. Our school is situated in Upper Tapovan, one of the most peaceful areas of Rishikesh, surrounded by green agricultural fields and the gentle presence of the Himalayan foothills.

Unlike busy commercial districts, our location provides an atmosphere of genuine tranquillity. The rhythm of life here follows nature rather than traffic. Mornings begin with birdsong drifting across the fields, while evenings are often accompanied by breathtaking Himalayan sunsets. Throughout the year local farmers cultivate rice and mustard, creating a landscape that changes beautifully with the seasons.

Students often tell us that this peaceful setting becomes one of the most memorable aspects of their training. The calm environment naturally supports concentration, meditation, self-study, and deep rest. It allows the nervous system to settle and creates ideal conditions for authentic yogic learning.

Contemporary Facilities Rooted in Tradition

While our philosophy remains firmly grounded in traditional yogic values, we believe that students deserve a comfortable and professional learning environment.

Our spacious yoga hall has been carefully designed to support safe and effective practice. Excellent ventilation, quality flooring, ample natural light, and a harmonious atmosphere help students remain focused throughout their training. Every participant has access to essential yoga equipment including mats, blocks, belts, ropes, and props required for proper alignment and safe progression.

The result is a space where ancient teachings can be explored with modern standards of comfort, safety, and professionalism.

Unity in Diversity

One of the most beautiful aspects of yoga is its ability to bring people together. Every year students from Europe, North America, South America, Australia, Asia, and many other parts of the world gather at Ravinder Yoga School with a shared desire to learn, grow, and discover.

We believe that yoga belongs to humanity. Its wisdom transcends nationality, religion, culture, age, and background. Within our classrooms, students encounter different perspectives, life experiences, and traditions, creating a rich and inspiring international community.

The friendships formed during training often become lifelong connections. Many graduates continue travelling together, teaching together, and supporting one another long after completing their course. In a world that often emphasises division, we celebrate the yogic understanding that beneath our differences we remain deeply connected.

The Principle of Non-Attachment

A central teaching of classical yoga is the cultivation of non-attachment. This does not mean becoming indifferent to life; rather, it means learning to engage fully with the present moment without becoming imprisoned by possessions, expectations, memories, or fears.

Many people arrive in Rishikesh carrying the weight of demanding careers, personal challenges, future anxieties, or past experiences. Through yoga practice, meditation, breathwork, and self-inquiry, students gradually discover the freedom that arises when they learn to let go of what no longer serves them.

The practice of non-attachment creates space for clarity, resilience, gratitude, and inner
