Welcome to our 7 days yoga retreat course

7 Days Yoga Retreat | Ravinder Yoga School

At Ravinder Yoga School, our 7 Days Yoga Retreat runs for 7 days and 6 nights in the beautiful town of Rishikesh, India — and what a wonderful week it truly is.

Each day, you will gently explore the world of yoga through practices that have been lovingly taught for thousands of years. The heart of your week will be spent in Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga — two beautiful styles that work wonderfully together to help you feel strong, flexible, and deeply at ease in your body.

Alongside this, you will be introduced to Pranayama — the ancient art of conscious breathing. And my goodness, it is quite remarkable what a difference that can make to how one feels.

You will also experience Satkriya, which are gentle cleansing practices that leave the body feeling wonderfully refreshed, as well as the deeply soothing world of Sound Healing — where sound itself becomes a tool for inner stillness. And as a very special touch, you will also receive a traditional Ayurvedic Massage, an ancient Indian healing practice using warm oils that leaves one feeling utterly nourished and restored from the inside out.

Each day also includes a gentle session of Yoga Philosophy — a wonderful opportunity to begin understanding the deep wisdom and living tradition behind everything you practise on the mat.

Daily Practice Hatha Yoga

Classical postures taught with patience and care. Suitable for any body, any age.

Daily Practice Ashtanga Yoga

A flowing sequence of postures that builds energy, strength, and clarity.

Daily Practice Pranayama

The art of breathing — simple, profound, and genuinely life-changing.

Included Satkriya

Ancient cleansing practices that refresh the body and clear the mind beautifully.

Included Sound Healing

A deeply calming experience where sound guides you into stillness and ease.

Included Yoga Philosophy

The living wisdom behind yoga — taught simply, warmly, and without complexity.

You will enjoy 6 days of practice with one lovely rest day — on which Ravinder Yoga School organises a half-day excursion to one of the sacred sites around Rishikesh, either the serene Vashishtha Cave or the magnificent Kunjapuri Temple. The excursion is fully included in your course fee, as are your meals, accommodation, and Ayurvedic Massage.

This retreat is perfect for complete beginners — no experience whatsoever is needed — and all teaching is delivered warmly in English. We do hope you will join us. It would be an absolute pleasure to welcome you.

  • This retreat is suited, in the most gentle sense, to anyone who finds themselves at one of life's quieter crossroads.
  • Perhaps you are entirely new to yoga, or perhaps you have dabbled a little and felt something stir — either way, you will find yourself very much at home here.
  • If the pace of modern life has left you feeling rather wrung out — this week offers genuine permission to stop, breathe, and let the body and mind remember what balance actually feels like.
  • For those curious about meditation — you will leave with real techniques, quietly practised and properly understood, to carry into daily life.
  • Those drawn to yogic wisdom more broadly, seeking not just movement but a way of seeing the world a little more clearly, will find much here to take home.
  • Experienced yoga teachers are warmly welcomed too. There is no shame in returning to the beginning — it is often where the most interesting discoveries are made.
  • For registered RYTs seeking Continuing Education hours, this retreat counts. Though one rather hopes the certificate will feel like the least of what you have gained.

"Yoga is the journey of the self,
through the self, to the self."

— Bhagavad Gita

Curriculam in detail

Ashtanga is yoga in its most honest form — a set sequence of postures you practice at your own pace, guided but never rushed. A personal conversation between body and breath, with a teacher nearby to support. Every student follows the same map; each journey is entirely their own. Not all the poses are going to be taught within seven days

If yoga were a tree, Hatha would be its roots. Slower, more deliberate, and deeply connected to the breath. You will learn not merely how to do a pose, but why it works, what it does to the body, and how to teach it clearly and safely to others.

A mantra is not merely a word — it is a sound that carries energy. When chanted with awareness, that vibration moves through the body, settles the mind, and gradually shifts the way you feel. This module includes Mantra Diksha, a traditional fire ceremony on the first day.

If the body is a garden, meditation is the water. You do not need to empty your mind — that is a myth. You simply practice watching your thoughts without being pulled into them. Over four weeks, this becomes natural, and its effects on daily life impossible to ignore.

Psychic sleep — a guided practice at the edge between waking and sleep. In this deeply restful state, old patterns begin to loosen, and the body repairs itself with remarkable efficiency. A 45-minute session is said to equal four hours of ordinary sleep. You will both experience it deeply and learn to guide others through it.

At its heart, yoga philosophy simply says this: body, mind, and deeper self are not separate — they are one. The texts we study are not dry books. They are maps drawn by people who understood the human mind extraordinarily well, thousands of years before modern psychology existed.
